Booking Interview slots

Emirates Park Zoo Interview Permission Emails.

Articles 1&2, I need to conduct a couple of interviews to gain the content the articles. To be able to conduct these interviews I need to ask permission from the management team at the zoo. Below is the start of the email chain discussing this opportunity. (N/B This post is on going until permission is recieved or a contingency plan has been activated).

*Hello,

For my A level media studies course I have to make a magazine. The theme of the magazine is Abu Dhabi wildlife.

A couple of the articles I have planned to have interviews with some of the zoo keepers at the zoo; explaining their role with the animal, positive and negative aspects, importance of looking after the animals, their routines etc.

I am emailing to ask permission to conduct these interviews on Tuesday 3rd Feb.

Please note that these interviews are purely for my course, and will NOT be published.

Thanks
Cora*

Contingency plan: Article 1 instead of being interviews from the staff at the zoo, will now be just a review of my experience. This is because they haven't answered any of emails or phone calls. The disadvantage of this is that it would have the behind the scenes effect that I wanted it to.

Weekly Report- 25th Jan- 29th Jan

Week Beginning 25th Jan

This week’s tasks included:
  •    Draft permission email for being off site for Tuesday 27th.
  •    Risk Assessment for Emirates Park Zoo.
  •    Take Pictures for articles 1,2 and potentially the front cover.
  •    Page layout for article 1 and 2.
  •    Book interview slots.
  •    Permission Email.
  •    Weekly Report.

The permission email for off site work, had to be moved to Sunday 25th as I ran out of time on Thursday the week before. I was successful in sending the email and gaining permission.

For being off site on Tuesday 27th Jan, I had to conduct a risk assessment for the emirates park zoo. This was also moved to Monday from last week, due to running out of time. The risk assessment was modified from reel film locations; to suit a photo shoot at the zoo.

During the off site work on Tuesday, the goal was to take pictures for articles 1,2 and potentially the front cover photo. However, there was some issues with the photo shoot. Such as there is construction going on at the zoo which meant that some of the animals were inside, not on show, or they were asleep. Overall this meant that some of the shots I hoping to get couldn't happen. The positive outcome from this trip was that my photos were steadier, clearer and framed better.

Wednesday 28th was scheduled to planning the page layout for articles 1 & 2. However, this couldn't be completed on time due to a sick day. This task has been moved to next week.

Booking interview slots with the zoo keepers at Emirates Park Zoo. The email has been sent, just waiting on the reply from the zoo.

Sending permission email can not be completed until I receive permission from the zoo.

*Brief description of task.
The task that will be completed at emirates park zoo on Tuesday 27th Jan is the photography of animals in a zoo habitat. For the purpose of determining pictures the articles in the magazine; and potentially the front cover.

*Brief description of area.
Emirates Park Zoo, is a laidback and family-oriented atmosphere, the zoo is a place that inspires and encourages kids and adults alike to explore, have fun and stay connected to nature and wildlife.
It was launched in 2008 as the first private zoo in the UAE, it is now home to a colourful menagerie of wildlife and an ever growing menu of features, attractions and interactive activities.
Due to it being a family friendly establishment the necessary safety precautions have been taken. Such as the animals that bite have 2 sets of fencing with a gap big enough so children can’t touch the fences, the animals that can be fed have walls taller than the average child but with grating so they feed the animals. Etc.
