Weekly Report- 1st Feb- 5th Feb

Week Beginning 1st Feb

This weeks task included:

• Moderate Photos.
• Permission to be able to take casting photos.
• Page Layouts
• Permission for being out of class next week.
• Weekly report.

The first task this week was to collect all of my photos from Emirates Park Zoo, which came to about 300 photos. This was a lengthy process which involved deleting irrelevant photos and removing any unnecessary photos. Such as photos that didn't fit the specification of family and attracting children. Once I had gone through the first stage of narrowing the photos down, I ended up with about 100 photos. The next stage was finding photos that were eye catching, connoted family and most importantly that were of a good quality. This left me with about 30- 40 photos. Final stage of this process was the crop, enhance and edit the photos; this meant removing imperfections, excess background and changes some of the colours.

The second task was to get permission to be able take casting photos of the children aged 3-8 years. The reason for doing this was to be able to find the most photogenic child. However, as the age of the children is below 18 years, I needed to attain varying degrees of permission from the relative staff and parents. The task was completed on time without any hassles or the need for contingency plans to be activated.

The third task was to design several page layouts for the front and back covers, double page spreads and single pages. I ended up with a front and back cover design that meets the codes and conventions of a magazine; it also shows as much of the advert and main photo as possible. I have 6 different ideas for single pages, all of these designs have an equal amount of photo and text space. 4 of the single page ideas are entertainment for young children as they have arts and crafts, a maze, quiz and a colour by number. I also have 3 double page spread ideas which also have an equal amount of space for text and images. 

Finally the last task was the to get permission for being out of class for Tuesday 10th and Wednesday 11th to be able to take the casting photos. The email will also include the updated schedule explaining that I will also be taking photos on Sunday 8th Feb. 

This week was very successful, as all of my scheduled tasks were completed on time with out any delays.
